After being visited by snakes, monkeys and many gorgeous birds, we had another unexpected guest at the Mahakali ALM Park who literally "dropped" out of the sky !  

While taking class at the Angel Xpress Foundation Andheri East ... I spotted a huge murder of crows attacking something in mid – air; after which that ‘something’ dove into the bushes. I knew that sight just could not be right.... (my scream let everyone around know that too) and I went to investigate !

On reaching the spot I saw a Black kite being attacked by the crows and I stared shooing them away! The Kite had pressed itself hard on the ground with its eyes moving swiftly noticing the action above its head. I tried to see if it could move; it walked a bit ... afraid... but it was evident it was in no state to fly... I noticed it had some band on its foot... maybe it had been rescued before?

 I asked one of my students to get the bag of bed sheets we kept in the office while another volunteer, Jasbeer, helped me decide how to get it to a safe place.

As my colleagues Nidhi, Sakshma and Shubha took over class, me and Jasbeer along with the Park committee tried to call up various animal welfare organisations but received no response. With the help of an onlooker we managed to move the Kite using a bed sheet to a place which would shield the Kite from the crazy crows till it could be attended to properly.

        Thanks to Mr. Ramesh Khatu, we got in touch with Taronish Bulsara from ‘World For All” who made sure the Kite was picked up from the Park to be taken care of  :)
