Spell Numbers with Playing Cards

     Its always fun to learn while playing! This is one fun card trick my father had taught me that will help you teach kids the spelling of numbers from 1 o 10 with ease.

Material :

     For the trick you will need 13 cards arranged in this sequence - 

• 3, 8, 7, 1*, Queen, 6, 4, Jack, King, 10, 9 and 5. 

* Since the number 1 is not in the pack, turn the Ace into a" One" by sticking a piece of paper with "1" on it over the A on the Ace card.

   

Story :

The easiest way to remember the sequence is through this story :

    3 hundred and 8 7 years ago in 1 village, there was a beautiful Queen. The Queen was 6 4 years old. She had 2 sons whose names were Jack and King. Jack was 10 years old and King was 9. They both studied in the 5th standard. 

     And do you know what they learnt in class that day? They learnt how to spell the names of numbers with some magic. Do you want to see that magic?

In case you use the Ace

The Trick :

    As you gather the arranged the cards together ( with 3 on the top of the bunch ) make sure the numbers face downward. Start by spelling 1. With every letter you spell, remove the card from the top of bunch and place it on the bottom.

Start 

• Say "O", remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack. 
• Say "N" , remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack. 
• Say "E", remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack.  
• Say "One", flip the card of the top to face everyone and show that it is the number One. Place this card in front of you and DO NOT add it back to the pack.
• Continue with the next number
• Say "T", remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack. 
• Say "W" , remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack.
• Say "O", remove the card on the top and place it at the bottom of the pack. 
• Say "Two", flip the card of the top to face everyone and show that it is the number Two. Place this card in front of you and DO NOT add it back to the pack.

       Continue this even for spelling out JACK and QUEEN.
       Spell the cards in this order

• 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K 

or

• Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K

     

The best part about this trick is that kids learn to spell the numbers and love that they can do a magic trick. :)
